Voting will take place in Kalika municipality-11 of Chitwan on May 16 (Tuesday) according to the new calendar here.
The voting date has been re-scheduled after one of the candidates of the ward lost his life to lightning strike.
According to Chitwan District Returning Office, a public notice has been issued informing voters about re-scheduled date for voting in ward number 11.
Sifal Chepang, a candidate from the CPN (Maoist Centre) for the member of ward 11, died when lightning followed by rain on May 9 struck her.
Tarakeswor (Kathmandu), May 11:
All necessary preparations have been over at Tarakeswor municipality – located in the north-west of the Kathmandu Valley – for first phase of local elections taking place on May 14 (Sunday).
Returning Officers have been posted in all 14 polling booths and 35 polling centres in 11 wards here. All-party meetings are also taking place for the distribution of voter ID cards in different places.
The Office of Municipal Election Officer here shared that they are making preparation to distribute 29,502 voter ID cards in the municipality from today.
Though the population of the municipality is 81,443, the number of voters is low with large score of locals are in abroad for employment.
With the Election Day coming near, total 298 candidates including from 10 participating political parties and four independent are busy canvassing the voters. There are 14 mayoral candidates in race.
Some 113 femlae candidates and 185 male candidates have registered their candidatures for different posts in the municipality.
Mayoral candidates in race from the three big parties – Nepali Congress, CPN-UMl and CPN (Maoist Centre) – in Tarakeswor are Shreeram Thapa, Rameswor Bohora and Dhan Lal Maharjan, respectively.

- Nepalgunj, May 11:
Sadbhab FM 91.2 MHZ, a community radio, has come into operation in Nepalgunj from Wednesday.
With this, the number of commercial and community FM radio in Nepalgunj has reached 10. The FM has started its test transmission from last April 19.
- Dhangadhi, May 11:
Social worker Badrinath Bhandari has set up a revolving fund of Rs 1.1 million amidst a programme organized on Wednesday to mark his 92nd birth anniversary.
The interest received from the revolving fund would be spent to annually honour a literary figure having contributions to the enrichment of art, literature and culture.
The award winner would receive Rs 111,111. At the function organized by Far-Western Literary Society, its founder Yagya Raj Yatri lauded social worker Bhandari for his initiative to set up a revolving fund.
A resident of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis-2, Bhandari earlier had also contributed to various sectors including educational development of the region.
- Dang, May 11:
Five persons were arrested from Dang in possession of a dummy pistol and knives.
The Area Police Office, Tulsipur shared that they were nabbed from Baruwa village area of Tulsipur at around 9.30 PM on Tuesday.
The arrested are Shanker BK, 17, of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-5, Old Bus Park , Ajaya Nepali, 14, of Ward 6, Suraj Nepali, 15, of Baruwa village and Santosh Nepali, 20, of Ward 5 (nearby Trisiddeswori Temple), informed Chief of Police Office Tulsipur and DSP Loknath Timsina.
The four were found under alcoholic influence and investigation into the incident has started, police said.

- Rajbiraj,20 March.
A student attending the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) was killed after getting struck by a truck at Rupnagar of Saptari along the East-West Highway this morning.
The truck (Na 1 Ka 5200) heading east rammed Nitu Kumari Thakur, 16, of Bhardaha, Saptari, Area Police Office, Kanchanpur said.
Nitu, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, died on the way to Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital based in Rajbiraj, according to police. The police have detained the truck driver.
